Moreton Bay Skate and BMX Plan
Better Cities developed the Moreton Bay Skate and BMX Strategy through a region‑wide, evidence‑based process that combined deep community engagement with a technical audit of every existing skate and ride facility across the LGA. The team mapped current performance, safety, condition and network gaps, and paired this with demographic analysis, participation trends and emerging riding styles to understand what the future network needed to support. Youth engagement sessions, on‑site assessments, industry workshops and collaboration with local clubs ensured the strategy reflected real community priorities while still meeting contemporary design standards and long‑term growth projections.
This rigorous foundation allowed the strategy to clearly articulate a staged investment pathway for new and upgraded facilities, including major improvements in Deception Bay. By demonstrating unmet demand, identifying shovel‑ready projects and providing concept‑level guidance for precinct upgrades, Better Cities positioned Moreton Bay Regional Council to secure millions of dollars in State and Federal funding. The strategy became a compelling, evidence‑driven case for investment, showing how a connected, high‑quality skate and BMX network would deliver social, health and economic benefits across the region, ultimately unlocking the funding required to deliver transformative new facilities.
