Better Cities delivered the Gilgandra Green Space Strategy through a collaborative process that combined on‑the‑ground site assessments with deep community engagement to understand how residents use, value and move through their parks and open spaces.

The team undertook a full audit of existing green space assets, analysed demographic trends and recreation patterns, and worked closely with Council staff, local groups and community members to identify priorities for improved amenity, accessibility and activation. The strategy combined site assessments and community engagement to understand residents' use and value of parks, open spaces, and recreation areas and paired this insight with clear planning principles and staged recommendations to strengthen Gilgandra’s open space network, support health and wellbeing, and guide long‑term investment in connected, high‑quality public spaces.
