South Burnett Circular Economy Industrial Precincts

The Better Cities Group were commissioned by South Burnett Regional Council as the lead consultant in partnership with Coreo and Think Economics to deliver a business case for a circular economy industrial precinct. The business case assessed the region’s waste and economic profile to consider the types of technologies that could be employed within the region. An assessment was also conducted to identify appropriate industrial site locations.

A suite of technology and site options were considered and the outcomes of the business case presented to Council and the State Government. A model of operation was identified that could have ramifications for how regional local government areas around Australia manage resources, reduce waste to landfill and create new jobs.
