Tweed Sport and Active Recreation Strategy

Better Cities delivered the Tweed Shire Council Sport and Active Recreation Strategy by leading a comprehensive, evidence‑based review of the Shire’s entire sport and recreation network covering participation trends, demographic change, facility condition, supply gaps, land use pressures, and future demand across 2023–2033.

The scope included approximately sport and recreation sites, mapping provision against Council’s hierarchy and service levels, engaging with clubs, schools, peak bodies and community groups, and identifying priority upgrades, new facility needs, and network‑wide investment logic. The strategy also set clear principles for planning, design, and management; defined district and local‑level roles for each precinct; and provided a staged, costed implementation plan to guide Council’s long‑term decision‑making and capital works programming.
